Ernest Edwin Jordan
Ernest Jordan (Service No 4172) was born in Hampshire, England.
At enlistment he was single, 27 years old, working as a bricklayers assistant and living in Port Kembla, N.S.W.
Ernest embarked on HMAT A67 Orsova, with 20th Battalion, 10th Reinforcement, on 11th March 1916. He joined 20th Battalion in France, on 30th July 1916. Ernest was wounded in action on 4th August 1916, but remained on duty.
On 27th August 1916, he was wounded a second time and evacuated to hospital for treatment of severe shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder.
During this battle, Ernest was fighting in the same area as his brother, John Jordan (Service No 2621), who was killed in action on 16th August.
Ernest returned to Australia in February 1917, and discharged as medically unfit on 14th May 1917.
He died in 1953, and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, Sutherland, N.S.W.
