Lawson MacAndrew (Service No 6794) was born in Woodburn, N.S.W., in March 1887.

In 1915, he married Edith McDonald at Hay, N.S.W. and at enlistment she was living in Wollongong, N.S.W. Lawson was 29 years old and working as a clerk, when he enlisted.

Lawson embarked on SS Port Nicholson, with 3rd Battalion, 22nd Reinforcement on 8th November 1916. After arriving in England on 10th January 1917, he was sent to France, where he joined the 3rd Battalion in the field, on 21st May 1917.

Lawson saw service on the Western Front, until 24th February 1918, when he was admitted to hospital for the treatment of burns. He returned to his unit on 5th July 1918, but on 20th August 1918, he was re admitted to hospital and declared medically unfit.

Lawson returned to Australia in January 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on 9th June 1919.

After the war, Lawson worked as a clerk for the Federal Government in Canberra, until 1944.

Edith and Lawson had six children.

He died in Sydney, N.S.W. in 1950.
