Details:
William Salisbury (Service No 4588) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W. around 1876.
At enlistment William was single, 38 years old, and employed as a cook. He embarked on RMS Osterly with 2nd Battalion on 15th January 1916. The troops arrived in Egypt and on 3rd April 1916 William arrived in France.
On 28th June 1916 he was transferred to 1st Division Headquarters as a batman. He served on the Western Front but was not in good health.
William was returned to Australia in May 1918 and discharged medically unfit due to rheumatism on 31st July 1918.
