Stanley Stenton (Service No 65823) was born in Sheffield, England and arrived in Australia around 1914.

At enlistment Stanley was single, 21 years old, worked as a grocer, and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W.; Stanley had served 3 years with the 37th Infantry Citizen Military Force.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A41 Bakara with N S W Reinforcement 18 on 4th September 1918.  The troops arrived in England on 14th November 1918 and Stanley was posted to the Motor Transport Section on 16th January 1919.

Stanley served in England until he was returned to Australia in August 1919.  He was discharged from the AIF on 18th October.

In 1920 he married Marjorie Garrard at Wollongong and they had 3 children.

Stanley enlisted in World War 2 as did a son and daughter.

He died in Sydney in 1964 and is buried at the Northern Suburbs Cemetery.
