John Andrew Waldron Nelson
John Andrew Waldron Nelson was born in Kiama, N.S.W.
He enlisted twice in World War I:
1914: (Service No 156) when he was 23 years of age and served with the First Naval Military Force, saw action in New Guinea but discharged due to malaria.
1915: (Service No 3683) served on the Western Front. Served in a machine gun squad.
John was the brother of Reggie Nelson (AFC) and grandson of Andrew Nelson (Mayor of GerringonG, NSW), and first cousin of Sergeant Wally Sharpe (Light Horse Regiment).
