Edward Arthur Perkins
Edward Perkins (Service No 4221) was born in Sydney.
At enlistment Edward was single, 18 years old, worked as an engineer, and lived in Woonona, N.S.W.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A60 Aeneas with 13th Reinforcements, 2nd Battalion, on 20th December 1915. The troops arrived in Egypt and Edward was transferred to 54th Battalion on 21st March 1916.
He arrived in France on 29th June 1916. 54th Battalion were involved in the attack at Fromelles and Edward was wounded on 19th July 1916 and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of severe gun shot wounds to his shoulder and arm.
He was returned to Australia in July 1917 and after further treatment in Australia was discharged medically unfit on 1st January 1918.
On 6th September 1921 he married Violet Cracknell in Wellington, N.S.W. They raised their 2 children in Woonona and Edward died there in 1963.
