John Jubb (Service No 1408/ 1408a) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W. in 1897.

At enlistment John was single, 18 years old and worked as a farmer.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A11 Ascanius with 3rd Reinforcements, Light Trench Mortar Battery, on 25th October 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 28th December 1916 and John was sent on to France on 6th February 1917.

On 9th April 1917 he was posted to 35th Battalion and saw service on the Western Front with them.  On 7th July 1917 he was wounded in action and admitted to hospital for treatment of gun shot wounds to his left arm and right leg. He returned to his unit on 10th August 1917.

In March 1918 he spent 2 weeks in hospital sick but no details are recorded on his papers.

On 4th August 1918 John was promoted to Lance Corporal.

On 28th August he was wounded a second time and treated in hospital for abrasions to his back.

John was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged on 18th September 1919.

In 1927 he married Jean Burns in Sydney.

John contracted tuberculosis and died in Randwick Military Hospital in 1929.
