Percy Nobes (Service No 2693) was born in Woonona, N.S.W.

On 12th December 1915 Percy enlisted with the Waratah March when the March came through the Illawarra, but he was discharged on 15th January 1916 on to medical grounds.

Percy re-enlisted when he was single, 29 years old and worked as labourer. 

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A24 Benalla with 5th Reinforcements, 38th Battalion, on 9th November 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 9th January 1917 and Percy arrived in France on 14th June 1917.

On 9th July 1917 he was returned to England due to chronic ear problems.

On 27th July 1917 he was returned to Australia and discharged medically unfit on 26th February 1918, having been diagnosed with otisis media - this was the reason Percy had been discharged in 1916.

In 1920 he married Emma Price at Bulli, N.S.W.

Percy died in Sydney and is buried in Botany Cemetery.
