Victor Nelson (Service No 2036) was born in Wollongong around 1897.

At enlistment Victor was single, 19 years old, worked as a driver, and lived in Helensburgh, N.S.W.  Victor had served 3 years in the Cadets.

He embarked from Sydney on RMS Karmala with the December 1916 Reinforcements, on 3rd February 1917.  The troops arrived in Egypt on 11th March 1917.  Victor was posted to the Imperial Camel Corps on 28th April 1917.

On 3rd May 1917 he was admitted to hospital after falling ill.

In November 1917 he was returned to Australia and discharged medically unfit on 2nd March 1918.

Victor died in Wollongong in 1949 and is buried in Wollongong Cemetery.
