Clarence Page (Service No 1166/ 2166 - both numbers on National Archives papers) was born around 1889.  He attended St Andrews College, Sydney University.

At enlistment Clarence was single, 25 years old, and was a theological student. Clarence had served 2 years at the Helensburgh Presbyterian Church, N.S.W. as a Minister.

He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A32 Themistocles with 1st Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion, on 22nd December 1914 and arrived in Egypt in early 1915.  He arrived on Gallipoli on 25th April with 3rd Battalion and saw service until the evacuation.

On 27th February 1916 Clarence was promoted to Lance Corporal and travelled to France with Headquarters Signal Company, 3rd Battalion, arriving there on 28th March 1916.  He saw service on the Somme and on or about 22nd July 1916 he was laying cable when he was wounded when a shell hit the trench.  Clarence died from his wounds soon after.

He is buried in Adanac Military Cemetery France: Plot II, Row H, Grave 24.

Clarence was awarded a Military Medal posthumously for his action at Lone Pine:  The citation reads: 'At Lone Pine he showed great bravery and initiative in running two telephone lines across open ground between our own and the captured trenches under very heavy artillery and machine gun fire. As a result of this gallant action communication was able to be maintained with the captured portion.'  Commonwealth Gazette No 62 Dated 19th April 1917.
