Philip Watterson (Service No 974) was born in Orange, N.S.W.

At enlistment Philip was single, 27 years old, and was working a farm at Woonona, N.S.W. Philop had served 5 years with the Militia.

He embarked from Newcastle on HMAT A58 Kabinga with 5th Reinforcements, 7th Light Horse Regiment on 21st May 1915.  The troops arrived in Egypt and Philip was sent on to Gallipoli, arriving in time to see service at the battle for Lone Pine.

He was evacuated to hospital on Mudros sick on 13th December 1915. 1916 saw him in hospital on several occasions with appendicitis. He was sent to England for treatment but does not appear to have been operated on for this recurring condition.

He finally returned to Egypt and his unit on 18th September 1917 and saw service in the Middle East until the end of the war.

On 22nd January 1919 Philip returned to Gallipoli with the Special Unit assigned  there after the war.  He was returned to Australia in July 1919 and discharged on 2nd October 1919.

In 1921 he married Jane Moir at Bulli, N.S.W.

Philip served in World War 2 (Service No N2132), having enlisted at Casino in northern N.S.W.

He died at Wyong in 1967.
