Herbert Herd (Service No 16132) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.

At enlistment Herbert was single, 23 years of age, and worked as a window dresser.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A29 Suevic with November 1916 Reinforcements on 11th November 1916.

The troops arrived in England on 30th January 1917 and Herbert joined 8th Field Ambulance in France on 24th March 1917.

He saw service on the Western Front as a member of the nursing staff.

Herbert returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 16th September 1919.

He died in Wollongong in 1980.
