William Moran (Service No 399) was born in Sydney around 1885.

At enlistment Wiliam was 28 years of age, single, lived at Wollongong, N.S.W. where he worked as a draper.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A35 Berrima with A Company, 20th Battalion, on 25th June 1915.  After the troops arrived in Egypt William was sent to Gallipoli, arriving on 16th August 1915. After the evacuation he was returned to Egypt.  On 5th February 1916 William was admitted to hospital suffering from heart trouble.

On 5th May he was transferred to the Camel Corps and served in the Middle East until 11th November 1916 when he was transferred to 1st Anzac Battalion.

William was admitted to hospital sick a number of times and the decision was made to return him to Australia due to neurasthenia in November 1917.  He was discharged medically unfit on 26th January 1918.

In 1921 he married Florence Braham in Wollongong. William & Florence raised 3 children.

William died in 1950.
