Edwin Kells (Service No 2352) was born in Milton, N.S.W. in 1896.

When Edwin enlisted he was single, 20 years of age, employed as a labourer and living at Bellambi, N.S.W.

Edwin embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A17 Port Lincoln with 4th Reinforcements, 37th Battalion on 20th October 1916.  He arrived in England on 9th January 1917 and was soon with 37th Battalion in France where he served from 28th March 1917.

Edwin became ill and spent 3 weeks in hospital in July and August 1917.  

On October 1917, while fighting at Flanders, Edwin was wounded, receiving gun shot wounds to his right leg and arm .  His wounds were severe and he remained in hospital in France until he was well enough to travel to England for treatment.

He returned to Australia in March 1919 and was finally discharged medically unfit on 26th June 1920.

In 1938 he married Emily Allen.

Edwin died in 1971, and is buried in Bulli Cemetery, N.S.W.
