Hilary Fallick (Service No 4) was a single 22 year old mining surveyor at Helensburgh, N.S.W. when he enlisted.  He embarked soon after but caught chicken pox and was returned to Sydney.

Hilary was promoted to Corporal on 17th January 1916 and then to Staff Sergeant on 16th February 1916.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A38 Ulysses with 1st Mining Corps Headquarters on 20th February 1916.  

The troops arrived in France on 5th May 1916 and on 11th October 1916 Hilary was attached to 1st Australian Tunnel Corps as a draughtsman.  He saw service on the Western Front.

Hilary was admitted to hospital in January 1917 with trench fever and in February 1919 with influenza.

He returned to Australia in April 1919 and was discharged on 2nd September 1919.

On 22nd January 1921 Hilary married Eunice McGee and they went on to have 4 children.

Hilary died in Sydney in 1969.

He is commemorated on the Helensburgh Methodist Church Roll of Honour, N.S.W.
