George Leslie (Service No 3120) was born in Mount Kembla, N.S.W.

He enlisted at the age of 22, at which time he was single and worked as a drover.

George embarked from Newcastle on HMAT A37 Hobart with 1st reinforcements Field Artillery Brigade on 21st December 1914. After arriving in Egypt he was sent to Gallipoli, arriving on 30th April 1915, where he remained until the evacuation.

George was then sent to France, arriving on 3rd April 1916.  He was assigned to the 4th Division Ammunition Column on 3rd September 1916.  

On 29th November 1916 he was admitted to hospital sick on 29th November 1916 (no reason recorded on his records), and evacuated to hospital in England on 8th December 1916.  George did not return to France until 3rd May 1917, but was back in hospital sick for a short time in July 1917.  On 5th December 1917 he was again in hospital before rejoining his unit on 10th December.  On 27th March 1918 George was again admitted to hospital sick and returned to his unit on 26th April 1918.

On 23rd October 1918 he was allotted to B Draft and returned to Australia for special 1914 leave.  The war ended while he was on the way home and he was discharged on 22nd February 1919.

George enlisted in Hay, N.S.W. for service in World War II 31st May 1941, his occupation listed as labourer cook.

He did not marry and died in Picton, N.S.W. age 78 in 1971.
