George Ullock (Service No 909) was born in Northumberland, England and his family emigrated to to Australia.

Where George enlisted he was single, 22 years old, living at Balgownie, N.S.W., and worked as a miner.  He named his sister, Margaret Short of Balgownie, as his next of kin.

George embarked from Sydney on HMAT A20 Hororata with C Company, 34th Battalion on 2nd May 1916.  He arrived in England on 23rd June 1916 and after training, arrived in France on 21st November 1916.

George saw service on the Western Front and survived the terrible winter of 16/17 without incident.  On 31st May 1917 he was wounded in action and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a severe gun shot wound to his right foot on 5th June 1917.

He was returned to Australia in April 1918 and discharged on 7th August 1918.

In 1920 he married Jenny Grant and they had 3 children. He died at Kurri Kurri, N.S.W. in 1963.
