George Drummond (Service No 3487) was born at Wallsend, N.S.W. around 1890.

On 13th September 1913 he married Edith Marshall at Woonona, N.S.W.

George was 25 years old working as a miner when he enlisted. George left his wife and family at Helensburgh, N.S.W. when he embarked from Sydney on HMAT A60 Aeneas with 8th Reinforcements, 18th Battalion on 20th December 1915.

After arriving in Egypt he went on to France and arrived there on 5th June 1916.  George joined the 18th Battalion in time for their turn in the line at Pozieres.

On 27th July 1916 George was wounded, and received gun shot wounds to both his legs.  He was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment but his wounds were severe and he was returned to Australia in October 1916.

He was discharged medically unfit on 16th May 1917.
