Albert Buckley (Service No 2614) was born in Campbelltown, N.S.W. around 1898.

Albert enlisted in Wollongong, N.S.W. when he was 18 years old.  Albert was single, worked as a fisherman, and lived at Unanderra.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 6th Reinforcements, 45th Battalion on 7th October 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 21st November 1916, and after training, Albert joined 45th Battalion in France on 17th May 1917.

The 45th battalion saw serious fighting on the Western Front and Albert Buckley appears to have come through the war unscathed, with no injuries reported on his file.

Albert was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged on 12th August 1919.
