Sidney Walker (Service No 4323) was born in Albion Park, N.S.W. and the younger of 2 brothers to enlist.

When Sidney enlisted he was 19 years old, single and employed as a labourer.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A60 Aeneas with 13th Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion on 20th December 1915.  After the troops arrived in Egypt, Sidney was admitted to hospital with mumps.  After discharge from hospital he was transferred to 2nd Battalion on 14th February 1916 and went to France with them on 28th March 1916.

The 2nd battalion were in action at Pozieres and Sidney was wounded in action on 20th July 1916.  There are no details on file about the nature of his wounds or when he returned to his unit.

On 28th January 1918 Samuel was admitted to hospital with trench fever, returning to his unit on 1st June 1918.  On 24th June 1918 he was wounded a second time, again no detail, but was back with his unit on 27th June.

Samuel returned to Australia on 28th March 1919 and was discharged medically unfit on 9th July 1919.

In 1922 he married Mabel Dawes in Wollongong.

Samuel died in Kiama, N.S.W. in 1962.

Samuel's brother Percy Walker (Service No 2502) also served.
