Amos Meredith (Service No 4642) was born in Lithgow, NSW in 1896. At the time of enlistment he was a single 20 year old labourer from Coledale, NSW and had served in the 37th Cadets. He embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana with 12th Reinforcements, 30th Battalion on 25th November 1916.

After arriving in England on 29th January 1917 he attended a number of training courses and finally joined 45th Battalion in France on 9th July 1917. His file lists few details but he saw service on the Western Front until he was reported wounded in action on 11th October 1917. Amos died the same day and is buried in Passchendaele New British Cemetery Plot XIII, Row A, Grave 18.

Amos' name has been incorrectly transcribed as Arnos on a number of databases, however his name is clearly stated as Amos on his sign up papers.
