James Clarence McAulay
James McAulay (Service No 2969) was born in McLean, N.S.W. around 1892. Prior to enlistment he had served 9 months in the senior cadets.
At enlistment James was single, 21 years old, worked as a school teacher, and lived along Main Road Woonona, N.S.W.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with B Section, 5th Field Ambulance on 25th June 1915. After arriving in Egypt he was sent to Gallipoli and arrived there on 16th August 1915.
James was killed in action on 27th August 1915 having served for only 4 months and 17 days.
There is no known grave for James; he is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.
