George McLaren (Service No 1002) was born at Scarborough, N.S.W.

When George enlisted at the age of 20, he was single, and a farmer.  George had served previously in the Cadets.

He embarked from Sydney with the  February 1917 Reinforcements of the Army Veterinary Corps and travelled to Egypt via Bombay.

The troops arrived in Egypt on 4th April 1917, and George was taken on strength of 7th Mobile Veternary Section on 20th May 1917.  He saw service in Egypt and the Middle east.

George was promoted to Lance Corporal on 26th June 1918 and then to Corporal on 8th November 1918.  On 7th March 1919 he was promoted to temporary Sergeant.

George returned to Australia in August 1919 and was discharged on 11th September 1919.

He does not appear to have married.  He died at Cronulla on 27th April 1977.

His brother, Walter McLaren (Service No 58398) also enlisted, but died in Australia before he could embark for overseas service.
