Walter McLaren Service No N58398) was born in Clifton, N.S.W. in 1893 and attended East Maitland Boys High School on the N.S.W. central coast.
Walter enlisted at the age of 23 when he was single and worked as a law clerk.
While in training camp in Sydney he became ill and was admitted to the Coast Hospital where he died from malignant scarlet fever.
Walter is buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney.
