William Frew (Service No 50316) was born in Otford, N.S.W.   He had served in the Senior Cadets and Militia.

When he enlisted he was 19 years old, single, and employed as a miner. Due to his age, both William's parents signed a letter giving him permission to enlist.

William  embarked from Sydney on HMAT A18 Wiltshire on 10th June 1918, arriving in Egypt on 17th July 1918.  He saw service in Egypt with 12th Light Horse.

William returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 13th September 1919.

On 30th December 1923 he married Daisy Kluss.
