Patrick Ford (Service No 429) was born in Helensburgh, N.S.W. around 1887. 

When he enlisted at the age of 27, Patrick was single and worked as a miner.

He embarked with the first contingent, from Sydney, on board HMAT A8 Argyllshire with 1st Field Artillery Brigade on 18th October 1914.  The troops arrived in Egypt and after training were sent to Gallipoli.

Patrick served at Gallipoli peninsula until the evacuation of the peninsula.  On 20th November 1915 he was admitted to the Beach Casualty Clearing Station and rejoined the unit on Gallipoli on 7th December 1915.

Patrick arrived back in Egypt on 22nd December 1915.  While in Egypt he was promoted to Bombadier on 3rd March 1916.  On 27th March he was sent to France, arriving on 27th March, and served on the Western Front.

On 1st July 1916 Patrick was promoted to Corporal, then on 8th January 1917 he was further promoted to Sergeant.

Patrick was killed in action on the 3rd anniversary of his enlistment on 24th August 1917.

There are no details in his war records as to how Patrick died.

Patrick is buried in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery, Belgium; Plot II, Row A, Grave 17.
