Herbert Hutchison (Service No 19297) was born in London and arrived in Australia with his family in May 1886.

On 9th November 1907 he married Minnie Price at Bulli, N.S.W.

Herbert enlisted when he was 35 years of age and employed as an electrician in Coledale, N.S.W.

When Herbert embarked from Sydney on HMAT A55 Kyarra the 1st to 5th Divisional Companies, Special Draft on 3rd September 1917 he was leaving his wife Minnie and 5 children.

Herbert arrived in Egypt on 19th October 1917 and served in the Middle East. On 2 December 1917 he was admitted to hospital sick but joined his unit on 18th December 1917. 

Herbert served with 5th Light Horse Signal Troop until the war ended.  He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged medically unfit on 1st October 1919.

Herbert married again on 5th April 1928 to Catherine Mitchell with whom he had one child.

Herbert died in Sydney in 1954.
