Harold Carruthers Wood (Service No 1020) was born in Jamberoo, N.S.W.  Harold enlisted when he was 35 years old.  He was single and employed as a labourer.

He embarked on HMAT A35 Berrima with C Company, 20th Battalion, on 25th June 1915.  He arrived in Egypt and was sent to Gallipoli, arriving on 16th August 1915.

Following the evacuation he was mobilized to France, arriving on 25th March 1916.  Harold saw service on the Western Front and was wounded on 10th November 1916.

He was evacuated to 2nd Canadian General Hospital for treatment of shrapnel wounds to the head.  While there he developed meningitis and died on 14th November 1916.

Harold is buried in Mont Huon Military Cemetery Plot II, Row G, Grave 10.
