Thomas Hill (Service No 4050) was born in Broken Hill, N.S.W. around 1894.  His family moved to Woonona not long after his birth.  Thomas attended Woonona Public School and went on to serve 5 years in the Citizen Military Forces (CMF).

He was a single 22 year old miner when he enlisted.  He embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 10th Reinforcements, 30th Battalion on 7th October 1916. He arrived in France to join the 30th Battalion on 6th March 1917.

Thomas' war was short as he was killed in action on 22nd March 1917 at Morchies, France.

Thre is no known grave for Thomas, but he is commorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux, France.
