Alexander Whitford
Alexander Whitford (Service No 3465) was born in Wagga Wagga, N.S.W. around 1891.
At enlistment he was single, 24 years old, and worked as a telegraphist at Wollongong, N.S.W.
He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic with 5th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion on 25th June 1915.
Alexander was one of the battalion signallers. He was sent to Gallipoli and was involved in the battle at Lone Pine where he was killed just weeks after his arrival.
Alexander is buried in Lone Pine Cemetery, Row C, Grave 76.
Alexander's brother, George, also served.
