James Gough
James Gough (Service No 1123 or 2123) was born in Braidwood, NSW and was a single 31 year old labourer working at Port Kembla, N.S.W. when he enlisted. Both his parents were deceased by this time and his brother Nicholas was listed as next of kin.
He embarked on HMAT A32 Themistocles on 22nd December 1914 with 1st Reinforcements 3rd Battalion. After training in Egypt he sailed for Gallipoli arriving on 25th April. He survived the early battles but was killed during the Lone Pine Battle between the 7th and 12th August. James is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery but his grave is not identified.
