Private John Oxman (Service no. 5799) was a 28 year old miner from Keiraville born in July 1887,  and married to Grace McDonald.

John enlisted with his brother George and they embarked together on HMAT A38 Ulysses with Tunnelling coy Reinforcements on 25th October, 1916. 

Both saw service on the Western Front with 3rd Tunnelling coy. It would have been a comfort to the families to know that the brothers were together throughout the war.

John returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 7th August, 1919.
