Joseph Henry Cramer
Sergeant Joseph Cramer (Service no. 8055) was born in Quirindi on 22nd June, 1884 and trained as a school teacher. At the time of enlistment he was living and working in Wollongong. He had married Edith Triphook in 1911 and spent two years in the cadets.
Joseph embarked on HMAT A17 Port Lincoln on 13th October, 1915 with Special Reinforcements 2nd General Hospital. He served in Egypt and France with the hospital and on 16th October, 1918 was promoted to Sergeant.
After becoming ill, Joseph was returned to Australia in March 1919 diagnosed with arthritis of the elbow and tuberculosis. He was admitted to hospital and discharged medically unfit on 14th May, 1921.
Joseph died in Wollongong on 24 July, 1921.
