Charles Buckeridge (Service no. 522) was born in Wollongong circa 1892. He was employed as a carpenter, 22 years old and single at the time of enlistment. Charles was one of the first to enlist and embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides on the 20th October, 1914 with 3rd Battalion as part of the first contingent to sail. He arrived in Egypt and after training sailed to Gallipoli, landing on the first day, 25th April, 1915. He was slightly wounded on landing but was able to resume duties two weeks later.

Charles was wounded on the 25th April and was evacuated for treatment. He returned to Gallipoli on 26th May 1915 and served with 15 Platoon D coy 3rd Battalion until the Lone Pine Battle in August when, on the 7th August he was killed in action. Cause of death was a gun shot wound to the back.

Private Buckeridge is buried in Lone Pine Cemetery.

Charles' brother, John Wilfred Buckeridge (Service No 2913) also served, and was awarded the Military Medal.
