Private Walter Lindsay (Service no. 2199) was born in Clifton on August 29, 1888 and the family moved to Unanderra where he attended school. At the time of enlistment he was a single 27 year old bank clerk.

He embarked on HMAT A4 Pera on 22nd March, 1916 with 15th Reinforcements 6th Light Horse. Soon after arriving in Egypt Walter was admitted to hospital in Cairo with pleurisy. He was dangerously ill and was returned to Australia in September, 1916.

Walter was discharged medically unfit on 10th February, 1917.

He is remembered on the Unanderra School Roll of Honour.
