Private Alfred Neaves (Service no. 480) was born circa 1891 in Wollongong and prior to enlisting he worked as a labourer.

Alfred embarked with 12th light horse on 13th June, 1915 on HMAT A29 Suevic. He saw service on Gallipoli with D squadron 6th Light Horse. On 3rd September 1915 he received a gun shot wound to his head. He was evacuated to the casualty clearing station on the beach but he died before he could be moved to hospital.

He is buried at Beach Cemetery Gallipoli Plot 2, Row E, Grave 14 and was buried by the chaplain. His brother Henry Neaves (Service no. 2659) also served.
