Private Ernest Timothy (service no. 2491) was born in Bulli circa 1892.

At the time of enlistment Ernest was a 24 years old and worked as a miner. He embarked on HMAT A68 Anchises on 24th August, 1916 with 45th Battalion. He saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action on 11th December, 1917, although the cause not stated on his records.

On 18th April, 1918 he was promoted to Lance Corporal and just a couple of weeks later was wounded for a second time. He received a gunshot wound to his right thigh. He was evacuated for treatment and in January 1919 was returned to Australia and discharged.

Ernest had a brother Stanley Timothy who served with 30th Battalion.
