Details:

Sergeant Thomas Lynch (Service no. 7024) was born in Oberon, New South Wales circa 1893.

He worked as a bank clerk before enlisting. His father was a teacher at Mount Kembla school and Sergeant Lynch gave his address as the school. Due to health reasons Thomas was posted to the quartermaster store as the Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant at Liverpool and Roseberry, New South Wales. He finally reverted in rank to Private and transferred to 13th Battalion.

He embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana with 23rd Reinforcements, 13th Battalion on 23rd November, 1916. He saw service on the Western Front with 13th Battalion but only for a short time, as he had a lot of hospital admissions for ill health and seems to have returned to the quartermaster store duties.

He was returned to Australia in November 1919 and was discharged as a Sergeant on 16th January, 1920.
