Gabriel Warrington (Service No 2166) was born in 1897 at Tow Mill Creek, N.S.W. His granddaughter says he lived in the Port Kembla / Lake Heights district all his life.

An Illawarra Mercury article states that Gabriel and another man stepped forward to enlist immediately after hearing a recruitment address delivered at the Waratah's South Coast Recruiting March which took place on December 6, 1916 at Port Kembla. At this time Gabriel lived in Wentworth Street, Port Kembla. Enrolment papers show Gabriel's date of enlistment as March 18, 1916.

Gabriel was wounded in France in May or June 1917.

Gabriel was discharged as medically unfit on 5 February, 1918.

Gabriel had 2 brothers who also served Thomas Warrington (Service no 4946) and Albert Warrington (Service no 113).
