Details:

Frederick Fuller (Service No 1946 & 2721) was born at Woonona N.S.W. 1896.

Frederick first enlisted when he was 18 years 11 months, with the written permission of his older brother, William Fuller, who was his next of kin. William had written to the authorities on 22 February 1915, giving permission for Frederick to enlist as both their parents were deceased.  At this time Frederick was single and working as a labourer.

Frederick's was assigned the Service No 1946, and assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Reinfocement.  He embarked with this unit from Sydney, on 13 April 1915, on board HMAT A55 Kyarra, however he was put off the boat and taken to hospital at Thursday Island. No other reference to Private William Fuller, Regimental No 1946 seems to exist.

Official papers show that Frederick re-enlisted on 6 August 1915.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8 Reinforcements, under Service No 2721, and embarked with his unit from Sydney on board HMAT A54 Runic, on 9 August 1915.

Frederick served on the Western Front, and 13 February 1916 he was transferred to the 53rd Infantry Battalion.

On 19 July 1916 Frederick was reported to be missing in action, and it was later determined that he had been killed in action at this time.

There is no known grave for Frederick, but he is commemorated at the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.

Frederick is also commemorated on Panel 157, Commemorative Area, Australian War Memorial.

I am unsure why the obituary for M A Patmore is included on this page as I can find no link that M A Patmore is the mother of F A Fuller.
