Private Stanley Owen (service no. 958) was born in Wales circa 1895. He came to Australia sometime after 1911 and worked as a miner at Mount Kembla.

He embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic on 25th June, 1915 with 18th Battalion. He saw service on Gallipoli and was wounded twice. Firstly on the 28th August, 1915 with a gunshot wound to his shoulder and secondly on 8th November a gunshot wound to his left leg. This was a serious injury and after treatment in hospital in Egypt he was returned to Australia in January 1916. He was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 4th November, 1916.

In 1920 he married Frances Harrison and they raised a family while Stanley worked as a lift attendant.
