Sapper James Jenkins (Service no. 5762) was born in Mount Kembla circa 1895.

He was employed as a miner at the time of enlistment. He embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses with Tunnelling Company Reinforcements on 25th October, 1916.

James listed his address as Corrimal but enlisted in Newcastle for some reason.

He saw service on the Western Front and on 13th March, 1918 he was gassed. He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 23rd October, 1919.

A letter on his file indicates he was living in Lake Macquarie in 1959. No further information is available on James.
